5% improvement from 1st half
South Korean carriers has market an average download speed of 690.47Mbps in their 5G networks in the second half of 2020, the Ministry of Science and ICT said.
This was a 5% improvement from the 656.56Mbps in the first half, the ministry said.
Upload speed however declined from 64.16Mbps of the first half of 63.32Mbps in the second half.
SK Telecom marked the highest average download speed of 795.57Mbps in the second half. This was followed by KT’s 667.48Mbps and LG Plus’s 608.49Mbps.
SK Telecom and KT were using 100MHz of the 3.5GHz spectrum. LG Uplus was using 80MHz.
South Korea is aiming to build a 5G national network by 2022, the ministry said.
