Samsung Electronics’ compliance committee said Monday that it has agreed to regularly meet with Samsung vice chairman Lee Jae-yong going forward.

The committee and Lee agreed on the matter at their meeting on Monday, they said.

The compliance committee was formed in January 2020. It was formed as a watchdog on whether executives of Samsung were complying with the law.

It was formed at an appellate court told Lee that the company must come up with real and effective way to monitor compliance to the law within the conglomerate.

According to the committee, Lee guaranteed that the group will allow to perform its duties going forward.

The vice chairman’s trail verdict over allegation of bribery is expected on January 18.

Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDD, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS and Samsung C&T will also all start online shareholders’ meeting starting this year, as the committee had recommended previously.

Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire will start the same practice next year.

The committee will meet the CEOs of these companies on January 26 to discuss compliance to the law.
