LG teases upcoming rollable screen phone
LG Electronics on Tuesday unveiled its new OLED TV called OLED evo at CES 2021.
The company said the new TV uses new organic materials. The model name for the new TV is G1.
The new TV offers clearer picture resolution compared to its predecessors.
LG will launch the TVs in 55, 65, 77 and 83-inch sizes.
The TV also has Alpha9 Gen4 artificial intelligence (AI) processor which has an upscaling feature. Letters will be shown clearer. Rendering has also been improved. It also supports virtual 5.1.2 channel sound.
LG said the TVs will come with its new webOS that allows consumers to access contents faster. The OS has simpler search and better contents recommendation feature.
The remote control will also have a new assistance button that can activate Google Assistant. There is a new streaming service button as well, LG said.
Some TV models will have a magic tap feature that can connect it will mobile devices via NFC. They will also support screen mirroring by tapping devices with each other.
LG also introduced a gaming TV that supports 8K resolution and 60fps. The company said it expects demand to increase from new gaming consoles.
The gaming focused TV will also come with an optimizer feature that sets the TV options for a specific genre of game.
LG said it was expanding LG ThingQ ecosystem. The company plans to collaborate with Nestle and Kraft Heinz so that the app can be used to order foods. The app will also have a scan-to-cook feature that can find the best recipe for a food by scanning its bar code.
LG will also collaborate with US’ HomeAdvisor to install a home appliance in the home to another location.
The company also introduced its virtual human Keem Reah and Cloi disinfectant robot at CES 2021. The company also showed off its 2021 model LG Gram notebooks and new OLED panels at the tradeshow.
The South Korean electronics maker also showed a teaser of its rollable smartphone LG Rollable. The vidoe shows a display that is unwrapped and wrapped. It ends with the moniker More to Explore, showing that the new phone will be part of the company’s Explorer Project.
LG also showed off its 2021 TV lineup. These include OLED, QNED and Nanocell brands. QNED TV uses what the company calls quantum nanocell technology. The 86-inch, 8K version of the TV has around 30,000 LED modules. These allow for 2,500 areas for local dimming on the backlight, LG said. The brand will launch in 86, 90. 95 and 99-inch sizes in 4K and 8K resolutions.
