KapJin has supplied a large amount of back-end equipment to SK Innovation for the latter’s battery factory in Komarom, Hungary, TheElec has learned.
The company also supplied some equipment for SK Innovation’s factories in Changzhou, China and the Georgia, the US.
KabJin is expected to post over 50 billion won in sales in 2020 from the supply.
The company supplied formation equipment for SK Innovation’s Hungary factory.
As the first factory in Hungary has an annual production capacity of 7.5GWh, KanJin’s deal is expected to be around 10 billion won.
A formation equipment costs around 30 million won. One battery line uses hundreds of them. The equipment puts in electricity to batteries that have finished assembly to activate them.
KabJin has Samsung SDI, LG Energy Solution and SK Innovation as customers. China’s BYD and Wanxiang are its customers as well.
In formation equipment, KabJin was second only to PNE Solution in South Korea, a person familiar with the matter said. The company was also strong in power conversion systems, they said.
KabJin however doesn’t focus on cyclers as PNE Solution does. It is offering PCS for energy storage systems for profitability.
The company posted 15.5 billion won in sales in 2016 but this increased to 47.9 billion won in 2019.
