
Semiconductor board maker Simmtech has closed one of its factories in South Korea due to employees contracting COVID-19.
The company has found seven cases among its employees from January 31 to February 2.
One of the patients, who is in their 40s, was a worker at the company’s first Cheongju factory. The other six were office works.
Production at the first factory was suspended at 700 workers there were checked for the virus. The six cases came from this checkup.
Authorities are checking 210 more workers of the factory and is planning to due a check on the second factory as one of the patients visited there.
They are also commencing tests on 1,500 remaining workers that work at the second, third and fifth factories as well as a nearby factory.
Simmtech employees 2,500 employees in total at its Cheongju facilities.
