Company to expand supply to China
SoluM said on Tuesday that is has clinched an order for electronic shelf labels (ESL) from Alibaba.
The South Korean company will be supplying its Newton ESL to 500 stores run by RT-Mart, a hyper market subsidiary of Alibaba.
Visitors of the stores can can the QR code on the ESL to check the nutrition and origin of the food products. Their prices are also updated in real-time.
The ESL are IP67 water and dust-proof so that they can be used in the sea food section and refrigerators.
Demand for fresh food product deliveries are on the rise due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has increased global food chain’s spending in ESL, SoluM said.
The company will expand into China starting with the deal with Alibaba, it added.
