Samsung Electronics said on Wednesday that it will launch Samsung Kiosk, its smart order solution, in South Korea within the first half of 2021.
Sales in Asia and Australia will also begin within the first half of 2021, it said.
The kiosk is used to order food and for payment in restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. It has its own system-on-a-chip and doesn’t require a PC to manage contents and payment on them.
Samsung Kisok has a card reader, receipt printer, QR and bar code scanner and Wi-Fi. Near field communication (NFC) can also be added as an option.
The kiosk comes in gray white color and sports a 24-inch touch display. It will come in three types, table, stand and wall hanger.
It runs on Tizen OS and supports HTML5, Javascript and CSS, which will allow developers to develop various software applications for use. It runs Knox security platform.
The kiosk manager can remotely control all kiosks installed nationwide in their company’s stores. Fiserv will distribute the kiosks in South Korea. Customers can also rent the kiosk with monthly payments.
