To apply in battery pack and car frame
Posco and SK Global Chemical said on Monday that they will co-develop new composite materials to make automobiles lighter.
The pair will develop materials that can be used to manufacture battery packs, in light of the expansion of the global electric vehicle market, they said.
The companies will also develop materials for components such as automobile frame, which will need to endure potential external shocks.
They will conduct research and development on materials that combine metal and plastic, which could become lighter yet retain the hardiness of previous metals.
