Same as original Fold
Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a battery capacity of 4,380mAh, TheElec has learned.
This is 3% smaller than Galaxy Z Fold2’s 4,500mAh, which launched last year, but same as the first Galaxy Fold of 2019.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have the same dual battery system as its predecessors.
Battery takes up the most space in smartphones after the display panel. Samsung is reducing the battery size to accommodate the change in display size of Fold 3, while also increasing its portability.
Samsung SDI will be supplying the battery. The company had been the exclusive supplier of batteries for Samsung Electronics’ foldable phones. Samsung SDI will also be supplying the batteries for Galaxy Z Flip 2.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to have a 7.5-inch main display with a 6.2-inch cover display.
Samsung is aiming for an early unveiling of Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2, possibly in July.
The company is expected to apply various technologies on the devices such as stylus (S Pen), adaptive frequency and under panel cameras.
