3D image to help with surgery

Camera module maker Haesung Optics will collaborate with medical device firm J& to develop 3D software for healthcare, the pair said on Thursday.
The pair will co-develop and the software and sell them, they said.
The deal is worth a billion won. Haesung Optics said is aims to expand into the global medical device market __ especially China, North America and Europe __ using J&’s 3D software engine sources.
The software will be used to turn CT, MRI and ultrasound images into 3D images.
The images can be used to assist surgery such as implants, the pair said. Use of such images can minimize nerve damage and reduce surgery time, they said.
