SK Hynix’s acquisition of Intel’s NAND business unit has been approved by South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission (FTC) on Thursday.
The approval follows that of those made in the US and Europe earlier.
South Korea’s FTC said it approved the deal quickly as it considered there to be little anti-competition concerns over the deal.
According to the commission, SK Hynix and Intel’s combined market share in NAND ranged from 13% to 27%, which isn’t high, and there was already a separate market leading company with market share of over 30%.
SK Hynix announced back in October that it was acquiring Intel’s NAND and SSD businesses for US$9 billion.
The deal requires approval from authorities in eight countries.
Approval from the UK, Brazil, Singapore, Taiwan and China remain.
Meanwhile, the FTC also approved AMD’s acquisition of Xilinx.
