Mando said on Friday that it will collaborate with Smart Radar System to develop an ultra high resolution 4D imaging radar for autonomous vehicles.
A 4D imaging radar measures the distance, height, depth and speed of its surrounding.
This is more accurate than previous radars that just read spatial data, the pair claimed.
The two companies will develop the 768-channel sensor by 2023, they said. This is four times the channel number of its competitors, they claimed.
Mando said it currently has mid-distance radar for autonomous emergency braking and other radars for Level 3 autonomy in vehicles.
4D imaging radar will support Level 4 autonomy or above, the company added.
Mando and Smart Radar System will also collaborate in radar for smart city, smart factory, drone, robots and other sectors, they added.
