Firm also eyes hydrogen fuel cell equipment market
Battery equipment maker Youil Energy Tech said on Monday that it is expanding its equipment line-up to include battery module and pack.
The firm previously focused mostly on notching and stacking equipment.
Youil Energy Tech said it also plans to win new customers besides SK Innovation.
The company, founded in 2012, had focused on battery assembly processes like notching and stacking.
But it is now eyeing equipment used in formation process such as module and pack.
Some of these newer equipment were already being supplied to its customers, Youil Energy Tech said.
The company was also developing an in-line equipment that combines notching and stacking work into one equipment.
Youil Energy Tech said it also is supplying coating equipment used in the production of hydrogen fuel cells.
The firm is a supplier of roll to sheet notching equipment to SK Innovation, which uses them to makes magazines out of battery materials during battery production.
Youil Energy Tech also recently developed roll to roll notching equipment use by prismatic battery makers.
The rolls are but into cans by companies such as LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI.
Last year, Youil Energy Tech posted 59 billion won in sales, an increase of 25% from the previous year.
