Samsung Electronics said on Friday that it posted 73 trillion won in sales and 15.8 trillion won in operating profit.

It is an increase of 9.02% and 27.94%, respectively, from a year ago.

The sales figure is its highest to date for a quarter; operating profit is its highest in three years.

Samsung’s semiconductor and smartphone businesses are expected to have led the growth.

Both businesses is expected to have contributed 25 trillion won each to the sales, according to South Korean analysts.

In terms of operating profit, the semiconductor business is expected to have contributed 10 trillion won while the smartphone operation pitched in late-3 trillion won.
