Hyundai Motor Group said on Thursday that it plans to launch a mobility app store dedicated to mobility services such as car sharing, parking, charging and payment.
The group has formed a market place and also formed an alliance with partners, Song Chang-hyeon, president of Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS) division at the car giant, said.
The conglomerate was preparing an open platform that will help the mobility and logistics ecosystem grow, which will be introduced next year, Song said.
Hyundai Motor’s TaaS vision was to connect the data from electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles, urban air mobility vehicles and robots, the president said.
The alliance for the app store currently had 23 partners and they will offer services using Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles, the company said.
Developers will receive not just transportation data but will be able to use analytic algorithms to design their services.
These will include measurement of driver’s safety levels, car’s remaining value and where the car is parked, Song said.
Hyundai Motor was also preparing a mapping service designed specifically for mobility and logistic services, he added.
