ASML CEO Peter Wennink has said on Thursday during his visit to South Korea that the Netherlands-based fab equipment maker will support the local chip ecosystem.
Wennink held talks with Moon Sung-wook, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, at ASML Korea’s headquarters at Hwaseong the same day, according to the ministry.
ASML manufactures lithography equipment for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) process, which is used in advanced chip production.
The Industry Ministry said Moon thanked Wennink for ASML’s recent decision to spend 240 billion won up to 2025 at Hwaseong, announced in May, which will see it taking part as an investor for a planned semiconductor cluster there.
The fab equipment maker is planning to build a EUV training center and other facilities on 16,000 meter-square of land.
