Revenue from fab equipment is expected to reach US$124.3 billion in 2022, according to analyst firm VLSI Research.
This will be an increase of 22% year-on-year. VLSI Research said that demand for fab equipment that wasn’t met because of supply chain disruptions last year has been pushed to 2022.
Coupled with strong market demand and various government semiconductor support policies, fab equipment revenue is expected to increase 22% in 2022 compared to 2021, the analyst firm said.
According to VLSI Research’s data, the fab equipment market was worth US$62.6 billion in 2019 and US$73.6 billion in 2020. It exceeded US$100 billion for the first time in 2021.
Meanwhile, for 2022, front-end equipment will account for US$107.9 billion of the total.
Testing and packaging equipment will account for US$10 billion and US$6.4 billion, respectively, this year.
