South Korean battery equipment maker TSI has won an order to supply mixing equipment to Ultium Cells, TheElec has learned.
TSI beat competitor Yunsung F&C to win the order to supply the equipment to LG Energy Solution and General Motors’ joint venture.
The mixing equipment will be supplied to Ultium Cells’ second factory in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
TSI’s mixing equipment has a capacity of 2300 liters and will be used to mix the cathode and anode materials.
The order is turn-key and the company will oversee the storage and supply of the materials to be mixed as well as the installation of the equipment.
Ultium Cells’ first factory had four mixing equipment with each unit costing around 20 billion won. These units were supplied by Yunsung F&C.
TSI was already installing the equipment at the second factory with automation solution firm Dongwoo GCS.
TSI has previously supplied its equipment to LG Energy Solution for their factory in Poland.
