LG Display said on Thursday that it saw a significant year-on-year profit drop during the first quarter due to lowered panel shipment and price drops.
The company said it recorded 6.47 trillion won in revenue and 38.3 billion won in operating income, a drop of 6% and 93%, respectively.
The company said operating profit was affected by shipment drop in large and small OLED panels as well as a price drop of liquid crystal displays.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Samsung Electro-Mechanics said it recorded 2.61 trillion won in revenue and 410.5 billion won in operating profit during the first quarter, an increase of 14% and 15%, respectively, from a year prior.
The component-making arm of Samsung said it saw sales of high-end multi-layer ceramic capacitors and high-end chip packaging increase during the quarter.
Its supply of high-end camera modules for smartphones also expanded during the quarter, it added.
