DI had acquired image processing inspection equipment firm Protech Corporation in March this year, TheElec has learned.
The purchase follows the one it made in November when it bought machine vision battery inspection equipment maker Vtensystem for 6 billion won.
Protech was founded in 2000 and develops inspection equipment for flat panel displays and lithium-ion batteries. Its customers include Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and SK Innovation.
DI bought a 57% stake in the firm in March for 2 billion won. The company had focused on burn-in tester and other semiconductor backend equipment prio, but has been expanding into lithium-ion battery equipment since last year.
DI founded a subsidiary dedicated to automation equipment for batteries in June and named ex-LG Chem executive as the CEO.
DI has also been supplying equipment from Vtensystem to LG Energy Solution’s factory in Ochang.
