
SK Hynix has named its global sales and marketing president Jongwon Noh to jointly hold the new position of chief synergy officer of Solidigm, TheElec has learned.
Its task force, which was created during the process of the acquisition of Intel’s NAND business unit had also become a permanent team called Solidigm Synergy Part. SK Hynix executive vice president of solution development Ahn Hyun had been named the leader of the team.
The reshuffle was done to accelerate the integration of Solidigm with SK Hynix, sources said.
Memory chip prices are expected to fall this year and the move was being done to jointly overcome the current unfavorable market condition, they said.
Noh is a key executive of SK Group and had been named as global sales and marketing president of SK Hynix late last year. He also oversees future strategy.
SK Hynix subsidiary Solidigm was newly formed in the US after the first stage of the acquisition of Intel’s NAND business unit was completed.
According to analyst firm TrendForce, DRAM's average contract prices during the second quarter fell 10.6% from a year ago.
The analyst firm expected another steel price drop during the third quarter, for both DRAM and NAND flash.
