The shipment growth of MiniLED panels is expected to grow up to 2024 but essentially halt from 2025 onward.
This is because Apple will be applying OLED panels instead of MiniLED panels for its tablets and then subsequently notebooks, according to analyst firm Display Supply Chain Consultants.
MiniLED panel shipment is expected to reach 24.47 million units this year then 30.23 million units in 2024.
But from 2025 to 2027, the annual shipment volume will remain around 30 million units, DSCC said in its forecast.
At the same time, MiniLED panel usage will shit to TVs and monitors during the three years while those from notebooks will drop.
Apple started applying MiniLED on its iPads and Macbooks in 2021.
But the company is expected to use OLED panels for iPads starting next year and then for Macbooks as well in 2025.
Meanwhile, MiniLED is still widely used by Samsung and other TV makers for their premium TVs. This is expected to continue until 2027.
