SK Hynix said on Tuesday that it has started verification of its latest Gen 5 (1b) 10-nanometer (nm) server DDR5 DRAM with Intel.
Once approved, the new memory chip will be paired with Intel’s Xeon Scalable Platform server processors.
SK Hynix said its latest DDR5 DRAM has a speed of 6.4Gbps and claimed it was the fastest DDR5 in the market.
The memory chip maker also applied high-k metal gate on the chip to reduce power consumption by 20% compared to Gen 4 (1a).
Gen 4 was also being tested for compatibility with Intel’s next-generation Xeon Scalable Platform, the South Korean company added.
