South Korea’s export of battery cathode in January increased by 20% from the prior month, according to data from the Korea International Trade Association.
Export reached US$649 million in January, a drop of 43% from a year earlier but an increase of approximately 20% from December.
The figure is also considerably higher than the December last year when cathode exported plummeted.
Out of the total, NCM cathode export was US$410 million, and NCA cathode export was US$220 million.
By weight, a total of 19,894 metric tonnes of cathode was exported in January, an increase of 30% from the prior month.
From February 1 to 10, 940 metric tonnes of cathode was exported, a tripe increase from the same period in December.
Mirae Asset Securities analyst Kim Chul-joong said the NCM cathode export figure in terms of weight showed meaningful recovery __ up to the point when the market slowed down near the end of the first half of last year.
