South Korean chemicals and materials company LC Chem has signed a partnership with US-based OLED materials maker UDC on co-developing next generation OLED light-emitting layer, according to industry sources on Sept. 4.
UDC recently also signed partnerships with Germany-based display technology company Merck and China’s Eternal Material Technology.
A light-emitting layer is created by putting together several different layers. LG Chem said UDC has strengths in developing such layers.
“The synergy created between two companies that each boast top billing in their respective industries is likely to be quite big,” said Yoo Ji-young, vice president of LG Chem’s high-tech material business headquarters. “We plan on producing a highly improved light-emitting layer to provide to clients at the right time.”
