Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported on 26 Nov, that Mitsubishi Electric had won a deal to develop curved LCD module for trains and ships. The company recently announced the manufacturing of their highly environmental curved LCD modules with mass production capacity.
The new LCD module maintains almost the same specification of flat screen LCD module, with radius of curvature between 700mm and 1000mm. The screen size comes with a wide range to cater for demands from different businesses. The design of both the panel and case is scheduled to happen. A wide range of operating temperatures from -40°C to 80°C is confirmed, with 176° wide view, a high luminance of 1000 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. The product will provide high visibility even in a bright place, as claimed by Mitsubishi.
“With self-driving technology kicking in, both side and rear mirrors could now turn electronic. This module will be put to practical use coping with the new era”, said an insider.
