It is JY Lee's first foreign trip in four months
Samsung’s de facto leader has visited the tech giant’s semiconductor plant in China.
Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-Yong, also known as JY Lee, arrived at the company’s plant in Xi’an and inspected the facilities.
It is Lee’s first foreign trip in four months. In January, he visited Brazil and inspected its home appliance factory there.
Lee was tested for COVID-19 both in South Korea and upon his arrival in China.
China has exempted Koreans working for certain tech firms from the mandatory 14-days quarantine for foregin vistors if they hand over their test results prior to arrival.
Samsung’s plant in Xi’an is its only one that produce memory chips that operates abroad. Other memory-making plants are located in South Korea.
