Qualcomm and LG CNS will collaborate in developing security technology for decentralized identity (DID) in blockchain, the companies aid.
LG CNS will become the US chip giant’s first block chain independent software vendor under the agreement.
The South Korean company will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform to develop an object DID solution. LG CNS will strengthen edge device security of its Monachain blockchain platform.
Qualcomm will be wireless edge with its mobile, IoT and automotive platforms installed on them.
The pair said Snapdragon was designed for security when data from the cloud is sent to the edge device.
LG CNS’s object DID includes human-to-object cross-verification. It is looking to apply the technology to smartphones, connected cars, AI speakers, autonomous vehicles, autonomous ships, drones and robots.
Hardware security in DID is important as data are stored in the device.
Meanwhile, South Korea is planning issue mobile civil service cards with DID applied. It is planning to expand application of DID to driver’s license in 2022.
