Seoul Viosys, like its parent company Seoul Semiconductor, has posted record sales in the third quarter of 2020.
Seoul Viosys posted 9.5 billion won in operating profit and 120.7 billion won in sales in the quarter, an increase of 256% and 33%, respectively.
Operating margin rate stood at 7.9%.
Seoul Viosys said it saw demand for high-value products such as WICOP rise in the quarter.
WICOP allows LED to be placed on substrates without a package. Seoul Viosys said it was seeing demand for them in car headlamps but expects demand from miniLED and microLED going forward.
Its ultraviolet (UV) LED saw the highest sales jump year-on-year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UV LED are used in products to kill germs and viruses.
Seoul Viosys is expecting sales of 110 billion won to 120 billion won in the fourth quarter, or between 20% to 31% higher year-on-year.
