Qualcomm launched its new application processor, the Snapdragon 870, on Tuesday.
The process is an upgraded version of Snapdragon 865 Plus launched earlier.
The new AP clocks 3.2GHz, higher than its predecessor’s 3.09GHz. Both are made in the 7nm process.
Snapdragon 870’s Kryo 585 CPU has one Cortex-A77 prime core, three Cortex-A77 big cores and four Cortex-A55 little cores. The GPU is Adreno 650.
The processor uses 5G Modem Snapdragon X55 system, which supports mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G connections. It also has upped artificial intelligence (AI) for gaming.
Snapdragon 870 also supports Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, Qualcomm TrueWireless, aptX adaptive audio and Spectra 480 image signal processor.
The processor will first be supplied to the Motorola Edge S smartphone. It will also supplied to phones for Oneplus, Oppo and Xiaomi. Models that use the processor will be announced within the first quarter.
