
KT’s total capital expenditure in 2020 came down to 2.87 trillion won, the company’s earnings statements showed Tuesday.
Out of that total, around 1.08 trillion won was done in the fourth quarter alone.
The company’s total CAPEX in 2020 was down 11.8% from 2019.
Earlier in 2020, KT said it expected capital expenditure of around 3.1 trillion won. It has met 92.6% of that guidance.
All three South Korean telcos saw their CAPEX in 2020 drop from the previous year. SK Telecom saw a 24.1% decline and LG Uplus 8.7%.
Meanwhile, KT recorded 23.91 trillion won in sales and 1.18 trillion won in operating income for the full year of 2020. This was a drop of 1.7% and increase of 2.1%, respectively, from 2019.
KT said it was transforming to a digital platform company. The telco will offer differentiated artificial intelligence, big data and cloud to contribute to the digital transformation of other industries to find growth, it said.
