Hanmi Semiconductor recorded 70.5 billion won in sales and 18.5 billion won in operating income in the first quarter of 2021.
This is a rise of 80.1% and 161.5%, respectively, from the same time period a year ago.
The company said it is seeing a surge in orders for semiconductor production equipment due to high demand for chips from 5G, Internet of Things, data centers, connected cars and artificial intelligence.
The recent shortage in chips has also increased its customer’s spending, which worked as further boon for Hanmi, the firm said.
The company is expected to compete the expansion of its first factory in May. Hanmi had spent 12.2 billion won for the expansion. The new factory will allow it flexibly react to customers’ orders, the firm said.
