
LG Energy Solution was the largest shipper of batteries globally, excluding China, from January to April this year, according to SNE Research.
The South Korean battery maker controlled a 34.9% market share during the period, overtaking Panasonic which had 27.1% for the top spot.
In the same time period, Samsung SDI had a market share of 10.2%, followed by CATL’s 10.1% and SK Innovation’s 9.8%.
The combined market share of the three Korean battery makers, LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI and SK Innovation, was 54.9% from January to April.
LG Energy Solution supplies its batteries to Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 as well as for Ford Mustang Mach-E.
Samsung SDI supplies its goods to Audi e-tron, Fiat 400 and Ford Kuga PHEV.
SK Innovation provides its batteries to Kia Niro BEV, Hyundai Kona and Mercedes-Benz GLE PHEV.
SNE Research noted that the competition between the three Korean firms was heating up outside of China.
