Sewon Intelligence was in talks with Mercedes-Benz to supply its passenger health monitoring platform, TheElec has learned.
The South Korean company had been in talks with the automobile giant since last year and the platform will be applied to vehicle models launching in the next three to four years, a company official said.
Sewon Intelligence was also developing technology to monitor train drivers, they added.
It was in talks with SRT, high-speed rail that starts from Suseo, to test the platform, they added.
Sewon Intelligence was founded in July last year and develops health monitoring platforms and services.
It was founded by Park Se-jin, a doctor in industrial engineering who worked at Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science for 30 years.
Sewon Intelligence showed off its goods at CES 2020.
The company’s platform offers a movement and facial recognition sensor to detect whether the driver is dozing off; an air cushion sensor to detect the posture of the driver; and a heart rate and blood rate sensor.
These sensors act to prevent drivers from falling asleep, while also checking their health status.
Meanwhile, compatriot Hyundai Mobis also showed off its departed driver rescue and exit maneuver system at CES 2018.
The system will drive the car to a safe place to park if it detects there is something wrong with the driver.
In July this year, Hyundai Mobis also showed off an ear-set that detects the brain waves of drivers for safety.
