GCT Semiconductor, the fabless chip designing subsidiary of Anapass, is planning to launch a new 5G chipset it co-developed with Verizon this year, TheElec has learned.
The South Korean company had been co-developing the chipset with the US telco since 2019.
The chipset follows 3GPP 5G New Radio Release 15 standards, sources said. It supports sub-6GHz and 28GHz/39GHz mmWave spectrum bands and offers download speeds of over 6Gbps, they said.
GCT Semiconductor is planning to offer the chipset for the home router market.
The home network market is growing due to the popularity of OTT services and the stay-at-home trends from the pandemic.
Meanwhile, GCT Semiconductor is also planning to go public on the South Korean bourse, KOSDAQ.
