Organic light emitting diode (OLED) sales will jump 107% in the second half of 2020 compared to the first half, according to UBI Research.
OLED panel shipment will reach 383 million units and sales US$28 billion in the second half of 2020, a rise of 66% and 107%, respectively, compared to the first half.
OLED shipment in the first half of 2020 stood at 231 million units, a drop of 29% compared to the second half of 2019. Sales dropped 36% to US$13.53 billion in the same time period.
OLED saw demand drop across the board except in automobiles and foldable phones.
Smartphone OLED panel shipment stood at 190 million units in the first half of 2020, accounting for 82.2% of all OLED panels. In sales, it was US$11.26 billion, accounting for 83.3% of the total.
OLED panels for watches was second in shipment volume. In the first half of 2020, 33.48 million units were shipped, or 14.4% of the total.
