Worldwide semiconductor sales reached US$36.2 billion in the month of August, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
It is a rise of 4.9% year over year and an increase of 3.6% from July.
It is also the seventh straight month of growth.
The rise in the Americas was most noticeable. Sales there increased 23.6% year over year to US$7.92 billion in August.
Sales increased 3% and 2.1%, respectively, in China and Asia Pacific in the month from 2019.
Sales in Europe however contracted 10.1%. Japan also saw a drop of 1.4%.
However, all regions saw growth compared to July. Asia Pacific/All Others saw 5.6% increase and Europe 5.5%. China, Americas and Japan saw increase of 2.9%, 2.6% and 1.5%, respectively.
However, SIA expects the outlook for the remainder of the year to be negative. Uncertainties remained high for remaining months, it said.
