To protect from lighting strike
Solus Advanced Materials said on Tuesday that it has supplied specialized copper foil to Airbus.
Solus’ European subsidiary, Circuit Foil Luxembourg, supplied to lightning strike protection (LSP) copper foil for aerospace application.
The foils are used to protect the surface of the body of planes from lighting.
Copper foil is placed within carbon fiber composite, which reduces damages from lightning.
The aerospace industry is increasingly using carbon composites over aluminum alloy to make the places lighter.
The special foil was developed by Circuit Foil Luxembourg’s own technology.
Solus stressed that it supplies foils for use in 5G, chips, smart cars and other high-value application and has a stable and diverse customers for its portfolio.
