LG Electronics said on Wednesday that it will start sales of its premium LCD TV brand, LG QNED Mini LED, in July.
Sales of the TV model will begin in the US, then expand to Japan, Europe and South Korea, the company said.
The brand includes an 8K 120Hz model, an 8K 60Hz model and a 4K 120Hz model. They will be offered in 86, 75 and 65 inch screens.
A total of seven models will be launched in South Korea.
Mini LED TV uses Mini LEDs as backlighting. The LEDs are micrometer sized and much smaller than their counterpart in conventional LCD TVs.
LG’s 86-inch model (86QNED99) has around 30,000 light sources and 2,500 local dimming zones.
The company claimed LG QNED Mini LED TVs has ten times the contrast ratio of conventional LCD TVs.
It also applied what it calls Quantum Dot Nanocell Color technology for a wide color gamut on the TVs, LG said.
The company stressed that its OLED TV brand was the highest tier TV it offers.
