Fab equipment maker FST had formed a subsidiary in the US in Delaware dedicated to after-sales services, TheElec has learned.
The company is also planning to form another at Taylor, Texas in preparation for Samsung’s new fab that will be built in the city.
FST specializes in chillers used in wafer fabrication and display production. It also provides pellicles that are used to protect the masks used in these productions.
Its customers include Samsung, SK Hynix and LG Display.
FST had so far had overseas offices in China, in Wuxi and Xian, where SK Hynix and Samsung have fabs, respectively.
The latest subsidiary formed in Delaware is called Fine Semitech USA Corporation.
It will be for after-sales services to its customers that use its chillers. FST is selling its chillers as OEM for other fab equipment companies.
People familiar with the matter said FST is considering expanding its overseas business beyond offering after-sales services.
Samsung had said in November that it will spend around 20 trillion won to build a new foundry fab in Taylor.
FST supplies both its chillers and pellicles to the South Korean tech giant.
